Mine was 1/4”. I’ve found locally (Australia) the best option is 6mm hose as the 1/4” (6.35mm) hose here us normally rounded up to 6.5mm and a tiny bit loose.

While you're there miniminor, there are actually TWO sizes of fuel hose on the car generally. 1/4" and 5/16" - whatever that is in foreign money!

It'll pay you to keep a few inches of each i/dia and a couple of suitably sized hose clips in the spare wheel well. Having said that, with new hose, being pliable, 1/4" will slip over a 5/16" pipe

Yep, ordered a metre of braided 6mm hose. The main fuel line to carb hose is looking perished so I've no doubt the tank to fuel line one will be the same. Potential breakdown avoided.

6mm (in my experience) is pretty difficult to fit and I ended up chewing the inside of the hose which could result in bits of rubber coming off and blocking the system. Also could risk breaking the fragile fuel pump spouts. Abandoned it and bought some proper 1/4 ID hose for the engine end and 5/16 for the tank to pump.

1/4" hose might only be 0.4mm bigger but it makes all the difference as the tank and pump spouts are 5/16 OD.

Problem is a lot of suppliers say 6mm is same as 1/4 ... its not . The same as 8mm is not the same as 5/16.

My main problem was that all the mini suppliers give you 1/4” ID hose for the twin tank link pipe & link pipe to pump. Seeing as they are 5/16” OD no amount of swearing would get them to fit

As everything to the pump inlet is 5/16” I had the similar dilemma locally (Australia) where all the 5/16” hose (7.9mm) was actually rounded up to 8mm and a loose fit. 7.5mm hose was a good fit for me

Andrew is bang on there.

I bought 6mm for the van, no amount of lube and pushing got it on more than 10mm. Finally submitted and got some 1/4, cost £20 a meter though.
