I would and have used PTFE tape around the threads for want of anything better. Known around these parts as 'Plumbers Tape For Everything...

There is a sob story behind this. Tissues out...... I replaced the oil cooler on my MGB GT V8 and 18 months later needed to remove it to do some small job on the bonnet landing platform. But, alas, the steelccooler pipe thread had corroded itself to the cooler outlet thread. Luckily they were still makijg MG's here so I got another - cheap. Once bitten twice shy. PTFE from now on

The threads are tapered and so to some degree seal some on that taper.

I actually prefer to use sealant over tape. The particular sealant I use is a thread locker, Loctite type 243.

I use Permatex [high temperature or regular] PTFE pipe sealant. It’s basically the same as PTFE tape but as a paste - similar to the stuff that installers use for hookup of the gas line on cookers etc.

You only need a little smear to seal the threads, just enough to fill the valleys. Same stuff works for sealing other threads such as the bypass spigot and the temperature sender on the head.

I use Locktite Pipe Seal .. been using from the same bottle for more than 20 years as it does not go off.. but the remaining now looks more like a paste & needs to be scooped out of the locktite bottle .. and it all comes undone without any issue when needed.. just brush the used/old residue away with a wire brush & re apply on refit...good product

 Problem, the threat from the connections bolt is different so it will not fit. The threat from the splitter is bigger. Have to think it over how to connect it, any idea ?

Looking at both parts, it will be a simple job to re-thread. I would ask a local small engineering shop to help. The local model engineering groups are a GOOD source of single small engineering tasks.
