Recently purchased a mk1 63 here in the U.S. I have the heritage doc and know that the motor that came with the car is not original. In fact it is a 1275 from an austin america paired with a 22G1128 gearbox. But I don't know all the specifics of the internals. The stamped number (12H2072285) does not look factory. The previous owner didn't know much about it other than what the long time owner before told him. This is where it gets muddy. "1275 stage 2 competition engine and gearbox rebuilt in preston". Any leads on who in Preston rebuilds motors/gearboxes and stamps the motors like this?
