Clutch/drop gear housing #s
After many years I will soon reclaim the original and correct 190 gear box for my Aug 64 1071. Long story no one wants to hear. 2021 while a killer around the world has offered up a correct cyl head and the correct gear box. My question, what is the correct casting number for the clutch housing? My first thought was it may be the 22G208 that was in the boot when I bought the car. Then I realized I have two 22G208s one SM E the other SM F. I may be completely off track. Thanks Steve (CTR)

Seems a question without an answer. In addition to the casting number there is a raised section about the top of clutch housing with 1P6062
stamped into it. I have a fair collection of housings and would like to identify all of them.Perhaps there is a link to this information? Steve (CTR)

Doesn't get discussed much Steve but yes, that is a 1071 casing. Two alternative types were used to the best of my knowledge, but visually they were the same.

Re: Clutch/drop gear housing #s
Thank you, I guess I never looked closely at them. I did weigh them and find not all the same. I did notice the correct one is missing a bolt hole. I pulled out the block and the threaded hole in the rear of the block is there but was full of dirt or grit. The 190 tranny was stolen while in storage following an accident. I bought the car for past due storage fees. The 1071 engine and the housing were in the boot. It has taken 15/16 years to locate the correct tranny and buy it back. After closing shop retiring to the Islands the shop owner told me who he sold the tranny to. My first call ended in a hang up many years ago. Spending six months last year handling my dad's in home hospice I once again gave a call. My first offer was once again discussed at great length. It seems I'm not the only one unhappy with the former shop owner. Turns out his very nice 64 998 Morris Cooper suffered a rod knock and was repaired with my 190 box an a auto AA 1275 converted to std. I offered to pick up his car lees than 100 miles one way bring to my shop pull the power unit swap out the tranny (replacing with fully rebuilt 1128 remote choice of CWP) reassemble and return. New deal I had to locate a correct 998 Cooper engine and rebuild it. Seems old men can be reasonable, he is covering the cost of engine and rebuild to include balance. As soon as the balance assembly comes back from machine shop we are a go. Steve (CTR)
