Hey all,
fairly new to the mini game, inherited a ‘63 Mk1 Cooper after some family trouble a few months ago. I’m struggling to identify what carbs are on the car currently. From the crib sheet left in the car it says they should be twin 1.5” SU’s, which from a quick google would make them HS4’s right? Correct me if wrong? If someone could point me in the right direction as to what they are and how to tell for future that would be great!
Thanks, Zak

Re: What carbs are these?
Yes, they are HS4
They have manifold mounting studs diagonally, as opposed to the vertical studs on an HS2 (1.25”)
I’d also recommend adding a short length of fuel hose to the fuel bowl overflow pipes & route them away from the exhaust manifold. In the unlikely event that the needle and seat ever got stuck it’s a good idea to send the overflow away somewhere safer
