What is the significance (if any) of these light blue markings on these cones? They are metric threaded and date from before 1990 but we’re fitted to my ‘73 1275GT.

Re: Rubber cones & blue paint ?
They were once fitted to a car that was sprayed Aqua?
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

Here are some more blobs of paint. This begins to suggest to me that the paint spots were for easy recognition of otherwise similar looking parts.
Also orange helper springs as fitted to later hydrolastic cars. Not to mention the colour coded displacer units.
