Remote laygear thrust washer

Post by Maddog »

I am building up a new 4 synchro remote gearbox. It looks like the thrust washer for the small end of the two step layshaft may be
obsolete? Does anyone know if they are still available new, or what do people do? Can I substitute the thrust washer for the three step layshaft instead?

contact john guess at guess-works. I needed a thicker thrust washer for the same box and he supplied a shim to sort the problem.

Thanks for the response. It looks like Somerfords actually has stock of the part I need. Failing that I will definitely try John Guess.

Hi maddog, sing out if you get stuck. I have a few various sizes and short of that I make up shims. I had to do that for Tim's gearbox recently.

Thanks Chris, good to know! I finally have a good case to build into, and picked up a complete Hardy Spicer assembly. So, just ordered bearings etc.
I was going to hit you up for a mainshaft first gear sleeve and the thrust washer collar assemblies anyway. Might have to do a deal.
Cheers
