Do the numbers seem OK on this car?

Post by olddad »

I have a chance to pick up this car but could use some quick evaluation on the numbers and authenticity.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=Vie ... MEDWX%3AIT

VIN = Ka2s4800082
ENG# = 9fsay39424

Mine for about 8550 GBP.

The numbers stack up to being a late '65 car.

Wow!

That was a fast response considering the time of day. I'm going to jump on this one today. What had me worried was the "4", but that could also be another missread on the title.

I'll be looking to keep it and drive it as is after replacing the wing mirrors with some 60's era bullets I have and redoing the dash as original. It looks like the speedo is the correct one. Wondered also about the lack of an S on the bonnet, but that might be a replacement panel.

Long time since I've driven a car with the steering on the "wrong" side.

I think you'll find there is nothing wrong with the steering wheel, it's your road system that has a problem :D

Nice find, all the best with it.

What a cracker, looks cock on and so similar to my old 'MEG' I bought from California a few years ago, same year, single tanker, but that's got bugger all mileage on it and ! Great find (lose the arches though !)

What's the story behind it being a right hooker ?

Some great original cars knocking about over there.

Sent off the deposit, so I guess I have another MK1.

Now I have to talk somebody into going with me on the trip...1000K each way and a long two day trip with the trailer.

Gotta sell my Bini Cooper S now since I won't be driving the thing anymore.

Wiper motor reads 11 65, so late 65 it is. Original light blue carpet is underneath the red one in the photos. Damn I'm getting a chubby already, which is a welcome situation for somebody my age. I'm glad I didn't have to hold out 'till my endless '59 project is completed.
