From the diagram :-

3 wire flasher unit :-
B = battery ie 12v green,
L = lamps light green / brown tracer,
P = pilot bulb in ind stalk light green / purple tracer

Indicator stalk :-
Light green / brown tracer = common contact between left and right
green / red tracer = left lamps
green / white tracer = right lamps
light green / purple tracer = pilot bulb in ind stalk
AND
Purple / black tracer = horn.

Bear in mind the horn and pilot bulb are supposed to earth through the steering column but I find generally don't, I add a separate earth down to the body proper.

There must be a short on that leg of the wiring.

Thanks Woodypup. I ordered a new flasher unit yesterday if nothing else I will use it as a spare. Thanks for the wiring setup!! I am having a hard time telling the difference between the brown tracer and the purple tracer. Will play with it again today. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!

I'm having a similar problem too! Turn signals are working great, I even have the light on the end of the stalk working, flashes when it supposed to, but stays lit after cancelling? Bench testing, I can get one side working correctly, where the light goes out. So, if the light is supposed to always stay lit, I'm good, but if it's supposed to go out as I suspect, then not sure what to do. And, I am running a separate ground.

Well it's still not fixed. I put in a new flasher relay and now I get it to light up all the time including when the indicator is in nutural. I also ordered a new parking light bulb holder for the front but again that wasn't the problem as I used a test light on both the inner wires and found that the parking light was grounded but the indicator light would not turn on...so the short is somewhere between the flasher relay and the front bulb holder in the light green w/brown tracer wire ??? I am also thinking about changing the steering wheel direction indicator as the indicator will not hold at a left hand turn and slides down to not making a turn, Probably not the problem but just something else that needs to be fixed.

Ideas???

I also changed all the bulbs all the way around
