7” to 7.5” discs and CV joints

Post by colonel mustard »

I have a set of 7” discs with drive shafts and correct CV joints, when upgrading to 7.5” discs will the CV joints still be ok or do these need to be replaced?
Thanks in advance

They need to be replaced with S type CV`s http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search
as the 7" disc`s use drum type outer CV joints

From the historical point of view, BMC told the designers of the first Coopers to do the brakes on the cheap - by using as much of the original stuff as they could get away with. Such as the CV's and drive flanges etc. The drive flanges were the same casting but machined to suit the Cooper/disc configuration.

Luckily, as a result of this, drum flanges can be re-configured to suit the disc Cooper
