Lock tabs on mains - 1098cc
After two sets of Minispares lock tabs crushing and spinning long before torque was reached, leaving nothing for the locktab to lock against, I’m yet again, stuck.
Any recommendations on ways round this? I was hoping to have got my engine and box married up today and this is the only thing now stopping that happening so it’s pretty frustrating.

Just ditch the lock tabs.
They’re all pants quality so I was advised to leave them out. So far so good.

If you really want lock tabs, get some decent steel and make your own.

It's long been known, and, advised not to use lock tabs on mains or rods.....
Loctite or not is a personal choice.....I don't use it....

Ive got some genuine "old" locktabs that may help. PM me your address and I will put some in a jiffy bag, no charge, just donate something to the forum once you get them and your happy. R

Bin the lock tabs, torque bolt to spec. No matter how good the lock tabs they are not good enough.

Agreed, I never use locktabs on Conrods on any engine, BMC, Ford or whatever. The correct torque is important though.

I've never used tabs. Just a little blue loctite, then torque correctly as others have said.

That’s crossed my mind but given my experiences with the current stuff available…
If I did get new bolts, any recommendations?

Re: Lock tabs on mains - 1098cc
Bit of thread lube on the bolt & on the tab would have stopped this happening. Having said that, I wouldn't use lock tabs on mains or big ends.
