Re: Boot wiring
Don’t have a picture, but it’s pretty easy, loom comes down lh rear pillar into boot area, loom splits, fuel pump and gauge run down tabs on bulkhead, gauge to gauge, pump wiring through hole in floor with grommet, then rest run to lh rear light and earth connection fits to rear panel, then it runs around hinge panel to rh light held in place by tabs, there is a connection near tank that connects to the wiring to the rear number plate lamp,
Hope all that makes sense

Re: Boot wiring
Maybe this pic of the visible bits will help? Late 64 Hydro. Note that some early hydro cars had wiring for both 6 screw and twist and turn fuel tank types by the way.Daz1968 wrote:Don’t have a picture, but it’s pretty easy, loom comes down lh rear pillar into boot area, loom splits, fuel pump and gauge run down tabs on bulkhead, gauge to gauge, pump wiring through hole in floor with grommet, then rest run to lh rear light and earth connection fits to rear panel, then it runs around hinge panel to rh light held in place by tabs, there is a connection near tank that connects to the wiring to the rear number plate lamp,

Re: Boot wiring
Is that jute in the boot picture? Was that common? When I got my car all it had on the boot floor was rust.

Re: Boot wiring
Doug. AFAIK the jute pad is standard fitment. It doesn't do much good, other than hide the rust you mentioned, like all the other jute padding in a Mini.

Re: Boot wiring
I would appreciate some clarification.
The only bolts nearby are the boot hinge, tank strap, subframe mount.
I was going to opt for the boot hinge since the tank is not in place yet and I did not want to undo the subframe bolt.

Re: Boot wiring
I would suggest the tank strap, the same as the picture above but any good earth to the body clean any paint off.

Re: Boot wiring
I did not notice the ground going to the tank strap in the AndyPen picture above.
It thought it was going to the rear panel.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: Boot wiring
Just been into the boot of both my S's and the earth wire with the ring terminal shown in Rogers photo is earthed to the body of the car by one of the 4BA (?) bolts used to retain the rear light to the car.. There's a star washer below and above the terminal to give a good earth

Re: Boot wiring
Thanks Peter.
My nut is quite unusual! Only one I have seen on my mini so far!
Seems it is a Tinnerman lock nut washer screw!
Here is a picture of my ground wire attachment and the tinnerman nut.

Re: Boot wiring
Just checked one of my other cars today, late 64 is earthed through the tank strap on that one too... but any good earthing point will do.
