Hello,
Onto my next task, one that I thought would be easy.
So I have just gone to change my indicator stalk, however the plug would not reach the one on my loom. Whilst I have a mk2 mini it has a new wiring loom, and the current stalk has both the silver end on it and a plug not bullets.
The plug on the loom is just behind the clutch peddle, is this correct?
I’m not sure if I have been supplied a new one that where the cables are to short, or is my plug on the loom in the wrong place (not that I could budge it).
Do I send the new stalk back and order another from somewhere else? Or do I just extend each wire by about 3”?

Assuming that the one you're replacing is knackered, couldn't you just cut the wires from that knackered one. Then peel back the black loom tape from the new one, cut off at socket then splice/solder the old wires into the new loom. Loom now lengthened with correct wiring colour codes and plug too. Insulate as necessary, re-wrap loom tape and touch with soldering iron (to prevent it unwrapping again)......, job done and hidden from rivet counter police beneath loom tape. No hassle, all in 30 minutes or so

From memory (can’t get at my mk2 Cooper at the moment) the loom plug should be forward of the pedals and sort of hanging around between the heater casing and the steering column. There may be a clip to hold the end of the switch loom to the underside edge of the pedal box pressing.

I had a look at mine earlier and you're right about the plug/socket location and fixings Andy. But it looks as though the new loom is still too short. It's an easy fix I feel

Re: Indicator stalk cable length/plug location
All sorted thanks, I’ve extended the loom on the stalk by 4” and all is working great.
