I’ll have a look in my Lockheed reference book for the lengths but yes they were Herringbone.

Re: Cooper front brake pipe
According to my books the Mk1 Cooper had hose number 4352-037 and Mk1 S had 4352-066. However there were quite a few part number supersessions over the years.
Lengths of hoses were 10.75” for the S and 11.25” for the 998/998 Mk1

I would and have done so with no problems.
Herringbone, unless you have a source, has been unavailable for years as ‘new’

NOS pipes, don't know what they are for but length is about45cm, so can make them to mini length. Made a pair of Girling ones today , will post pictures later today as right now am at the hospital, some idiot kept coming out of a stop sign and had a collision, ended hitting my head on the B post and a whiplash!

Re: Cooper front brake pipe
Made a pair of Girling hoses to Cooper s length. the modern ones have a rubber sleeve over the hose on the nut end, subframe side, does anyone know if this was found also on the older ones?
The picture of the cross sectioned pipe shows they are still in very good condition, might even say the rubber is better than what you can find today!
cheers Cpr1

Mk1’s don’t have the rubber cover over the subframe end of the hose.
Have you a source for the ends to swage or is that classified information

Joking part, thanks for the info. The Girling pipes I had bought them from UK, on flea bay. The ends a local parts shop has some limited quantity and sawgs them for me, a friend of mine has some Herringbone pattern ones, long enough to get the correct Cooper S length.

Re: Cooper front brake pipe
Trying to replace my original 1966 Cooper S front disk flexible brake hose.
Original part number is 18G8421 (USA) which I assume is no longer available.
The hose I have is flexible with a herringbone pattern.
What is my best option?
Looks like current parts are GBH249/GBH174.
At this point I am going with GBH249 & GBH250.
If I find “herringbone” in the future I will replace.
