Assume you mean the hole beside the battery box that the cable goes through. The grommeted holes in the bottom of the battery box are just for drainage I assume.rogerotto66s wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 3:18 amHas anyone increased the size of the hole in the bottom of the battery box and used a larger grommet?
Are there any downsides to this?

Re: Battery Cable Routing
Thanks for the correction.
I am thinking of enlarging the hole NEXT to the battery box that the battery cable passes through.
This would make it easier to drop the subframe.
Any problems with this solution?

Re: Battery Cable Routing
If you're willing to enlarge the hole then presumably 100% accuracy of the car detail isn't a priority for you. In which case, just change the battery terminal clamp to one that can be removed before the cable is pulled back, then you don't need to change the hole size.

Re: Battery Cable Routing
This is why having the cable routed behind the subframe as on earlier cars is better because you don't have to either pull the cable back from the front or cut the moulded round post off and replace with a screw on terminal.
I appreciate there are potential chafing issues but my '60 has got away with it for 61 years ...
I have a stack Mini battery cables and only three have their original round post terminals intact.
Roger, I'd pull the cable from the front to retain the battery cable intact

Re: Battery Cable Routing
OK guys.
I will be leaving the cable hole as is and remove the cable from the front when need be.
