Rear arm grease seal surface
I am thinking that this sealing surface is not acceptable. Am I wrong?

Re: Rear arm grease seal surface
If that was mine, I would bin it.......
Not just because of the seal portion, but, that thread looks well abused, and, even stretched with over torquing......
The last one I did, the left hand side was so abused, that either a left or right hand threaded nut would easily thread on by hand....Never tried to torque them up, just changed the shaft for a better one....

Re: Rear arm grease seal surface
I wasn't too concerned about the shaft because I can replace that in theory but the sealing surface is tricky to fix. I suppose I could weld it up and machine it assuming I can get it done without any eccentricity. I am asking because this item is being offered for sale but I think I will pass...

Gary, can you get hold of something like these
https://www.barnwell.co.uk/skf-speedi-sleeve/
Never used them for this purpose myself, but in other applications they have been great

Check that the Radius Arm is not bent .. before you start to replace that shaft.

Re: Rear arm grease seal surface
How do others check the radius arm/both axis shafts are parallel to each other and square. I use a DTI on a surface plate with rad arm set on Vee blocks. (It also taught me something else too)
As a matter of (little) interest, I might have accepted the inner collar corrosion. It might cause greater wear on the sliding oil (grease in this case) seal but only marginally. Additionally there is no pressure within the operation of the rear axles and there is no centrifuge to speak of, both which could cause a leakage. That said, it'd be a simple matter to check it after 500 miles or so
I think that the picture has distorted a slight curvature into the shaft

Re: Rear arm grease seal surface
Need a wet left arm in this case. This arm was for sale but I would prefer to start with something in better shape. I thought about the Speedi-Sleeve, never used one but it would seem to be a good application for that approach.
