Trim refitting

[DUF2 ‘65 Elf]

I am refitting the trim in my ‘65 Elf and have a couple of queries.
Which is the correct order of installation for the smaller bits of carpet?
Is it crossmember first, then the sill trims or vice versa?
Next question, inner wing edges and sills, does the carpet go all the way to the edge of the door frame, (thus making the door seal awkward to fit over the flange and the carpet)
Or should the carpet be cut back say 15mm so the seal just goes over the flange and buts against the carpet edge?

I had the same question and took a look at some original 64 (wool type) carpet. The join seemed to line up with the front of the door - butted. Installation wise, bulkhead first seems right to me

I did bulkhead first then the arch carpet, butting up to the door seals. Then the sill trims butting up to the arch carpet. Finally the crossmember end pieces making sure they cleared the outer seat bracket hole.

Sorry guys, I should have said, I have already installed the bulkhead section are the 2 wheel arch sections,
I know the front and rear main sections of carpet go in last. I was unsure which went in first, the crossmember or the sill sections.

Pics would be great, I had been wondering if the carpet should go under the door seal or butt as you suggest. I guess I will now have to trim back the carpet to bust against the door seal.

Here's a couple of pics that hopefully make sense but basically you are correct, as far as I have always known anyway

Sorry for the long delay in responding, I have been very lazy and have not done anything on the car for ages!
Following the earlier post, I have bought a cheap beard trimmer. I have glued the sill carpets to the door flange, then used the trimmer to thin down the carpet by removing the pile for around 10mm. This allow the rubber seal to go over the flange AND the carpet and make a neat enough job. I have done the drivers side, I will take photos when I do the passenger side.

Good idea, we put the door seal over the carpet, and it is forever falling off

Finally getting up the courage to cut and fit the bulkhead carpet!

How is throttle pedal handled?
A) Remove pedal, cut hole in carpet for pedal bracket, install carpet, re-install pedal directly against bulkhead
B) Leave pedal in place and cut slits in carpet to accommodate the pedal (directly against bulkhead)
C) Remove pedal, punch holes in carpet for pedal bracket bolts, install carpet, re-install pedal on top of carpet.

Hopefully there is only one correct answer!

Another late reply, but on our early hydro '64 the carpet butting up against the rubber seals and it sits under the kick plate. All original factory fitting.
