Mystery part ?

Post by jl46 »

Hello all,

We are rebuilding the front suspension of a 1962 Austin Countryman. Today we discovered a mystery part that
we can not identify. Does anyone recognize this MOWOG bolt ?
Thanks,
Jim

Cannot put it in perspective size-wise. Maybe a top subframe mounting bolt?

EDIT: No, too short. Forget what I wrote...

I agree with Catmint, though it is difficult to see a cut in the pics, it does look like that?

Looks pretty similar to a AH Sprite/MG Midget lower wishbone fulcrum pin. Though without the locating tab. Do you have dimensions?

Here is another shot. Looks to be 2 1/2 inches .

Thanks,

Was it actually fixed to anything Jim ?

I'd agree with Gordon (Catmint) and Andy, it looks very much like the front part of a tie bar that has snapped off ??

I also think it is part of a broken/snapped tie bar. Thread, shaft & "washer" (don't know correct term?)
