Wiring Gauges

Post by Udo »

Good evening folks,

I've got a 68' mini I'm restoring that I received as an unfinished project. It had no original wiring. I've got the wiring diagrams and I don't see any issue with my ability to wire the car correctly however, the info I don't have is the wiring gauges for the different parts of the loom. I'm ok with the main battery cables. It's all the lights, ignition and ancillaries that I'm not sure of the wire gauges. I can't imagine BMC over complicated it...

Regards, Liam.

Are you using alternator or dynamo ?

Is the car standard (electrically) or does it have mods like extra spot lights, rev counter, hi-fi, or why.

Apart from the battery cables, you'll need 50A cable for the alternator wiring and 15-20A cable for the headlights and 5-10A for every thing else.

Would it not be easier to buy a ready made loom from, say, Autosparks ?
