12A185 (yellow) up to Aug/Sept 1963, then AEG163 (blue) through the end of 1071S production in 1964
12G940 didn't come into production until 1969 for the Mk3 1275 S

Re: Correct head for my 1071s
The 1071 S dates I posted are the change points from AKD recorded by Parnell. October 1963 for introduction of AEG163, so that would be the correct head for Jabez’s June 1964 car.
12G940 big valve head [12G1805] was fitted to Mini Mk3 1275 S and MG1300/1300GT production from 1969. Also used as the BMC warranty / service part for replacing cracked AEG163 heads. See prior discussion and ADO16 info.
Here’s what Parnell has to say about 12G940 dates, and overlap with Mk2:

Re: Correct head for my 1071s
Just to confirm, my Feb 64 1071 motor still has its original head - the 'blue' 163.
