Does anybody here knows if its possible to bore the 62,9mm to 64.58mm go make a 998 Engine out of the 948 A Series Engine?
I want to "upgrade" my Fathers A30 wich has a broken 803cc Engine now...

Re: Rebore a 948 Engine
I have a customer with a Lotus 7 America. Powered by a 948 Sprite engine. We wondered why it seemed weak at all rpm s. Once I was inside the engine it was clear the engine had been a race engine that was de tuned. A very nice 206 casting properly ported. The only problem was the pistons were way down the bores. I figured the C/R at 7.5 to 1. I have been using the newer 998 flat top pistons and press fit rods. These worked out perfect We reinstalled his cam and it was fine with a 10.5 C/R pulling strong to the high 7000s. I have install a bunch of SW5 cams in all size engines. I'm currently doing a .060 998 with flat tops and press rods, 295 head with hard seats, O/S intake and exhaust, surfaced for 11 to 1 C/R. Going with a Kent 266 cam and twin 1 1/4 SUs and Cooper type header. I did pretty much the same spec but for 10 to 1 C/R, SW 5, Mini spares intake and HIF 38 with magic wand 4 synchro for a Moke. I have been stripping automatic 998s for cranks and press rods. Take a look for a set of rods I think they are worth the effort. Steve (CTR)
PS still no cheap way to ship 4 pot calipers.

Re: Rebore a 948 Engine
Hi Steve!
Thanks you for your detailed reply!
I have a couple of 998 Cooper engines laying allround and i think i will take a set of those rods...
My engine Builder showed me a nice set of Nüral Flat top 998 Pistons with Götze Rings. If they are not too expensive i will build them in.
For the Calipers, it's a shame postage is so expensive!
