Agreed Pete. To me it's a balance of looking right and doing the job.
If it was purely to look good I agree with 111Robin (although I would have to draw the line at Camacs )

Dunlop is a period brand so doesn’t detract from the period look. Whilst I have no doubt that Blockley are very successful in historic motorsport, the average classic car enthusiast would say ‘Blockley ... who the hell are they ?!’ .
A lot of the comments made at shows about my FY ‘S’ have been the ‘period SP Sport tyres it has fitted’ . Due to the ridiculous price of the aqua jets as the are now called, I won’t be buying any more.
If the brand name was half the size, I’m sure more people who can’t get over the branding size would buy them ... me included.
Guys, Remember a couple of years ago that we were all wishing the fact there was to be a new 10inch Mini tyre made available .. now its here & proven to be a good 10inch Tyre in two sizes and at a fair price.. I for one will not care what size the English Village name is on the sidewall.

I hope people are taking this in the spirit it is meant. It is not by any stretch a pop at Blockleys. It’s a comment (not a nasty one) and an observation that might win Blockleys some more sales.
If a group don’t give a monkeys about the size of the writing that’s great.
If the branding was smaller or changed a little that doesn’t bother that group so you would still buy them regardless.
If we were to see that change in branding though this illustrates that even more people would buy them.
Definitely a comment and observation- Nothing more than that.
I can't stand blockleys. Will never buy them again . Had terrible balancing issues that could only be rectified with a lot of balance weights . Had the blockleys taken off the same wheel and fitted Dunlop aqua jets and only needed 5 gram on the same wheels .. ken

You can't rubbish a product with one bad experience. I fitted Blockleys to my D1s and minimal weights required, infact no weights on two of them. Have you heard of anyone else with this issue ?.
Maybe I was unlucky then if no one else has had balancing issues ... ken

I have Blockleys on a Jag, and to Ken’s point they did need quite a bit of weight to balance. However, I would counter that they’re such terrific value (particularly in the larger sizes), that I was happy to overlook it. Driving wise, nice progressive break away at the limit and very predictable.
The wording on the side wall really doesn’t bother me; my cars are not for static display - no one can see when I’m overtaking them.....
D1's not on the cop car Spoons. Just a set I had that I thought that I'd put tyres on when offered at a good price. There's a thought though...... I will put the D1's on for a police marked up photo shoot in the summer.
I must admit that I am a bit of a period tyre perv......my mk1 current sits on 5” mag minilites shod with ancient Goodyear rally specials....controversial..but in excellent condition and perform really well. My mk2 S is on LP 883 steels shod with ( again, old but good ) Mabor 165’s.....very period looking. I also have a set of 4.5 “ mini life’s shod with ( my favourite ) Avon’s which flit between the cars, and a couple of Avon’s spare in the loft. My last nice tyres were D7’s which were on 5.5 Mag minilites sold to Mark recently.
Then there’s the 12” stuff........
