1070 Cooper S

Post by Tops1e »

Hello
I am in the final stages of a complete restoration on my car.
Can someone please help and tell me how the windscreen washer works? I have a hand push system and recently bought a winguard windscreen bottle washer together with two types of non return valves. (Plastic pipes I bought from home.) Both valves work but need a lot of pressure to open and draw water through them. I do not know whether I am doing something wrong or using the wrong parts on what should be a very simple install. All parts are new including the hand pump.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have the non return valve fitted and/or the wrong way round ?
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

I have bought 2 types of non return valves. One of them has only one place where to attach the pipe and the other has 2 but I changed it round when it did not work. So no I think it is the non return valves problem. They need a lot of suction to draw the water. The push pump is not that strong to draw the water.
