Seats from other cars. What else fits?
Following on from the most comfortable period seat thread, I’m wondering what else is available from other cars that might fit with a bit of fettling as the options for a reclining and folding seat with headrest seem few and far between.
Has anyone had any success here that might look ok with a retrim?
Mx5?
Jag?
MG?
Rover Cooper?
I love the Cooper S recliners but like others feel a headrest would be preferable unless these can be retro-fitted, anyone done that?
Cheers

I would think "Smart Car" Seats would fit in a Mini "IF" that is what you want ? .. & you can get heated versions

MGF in mine. Not period but neither is the car. Got doctored before I got it.
As I've got it, it's bolted front and rear so they don't tip. Good excuse not to carry the grandkids in the back.

Alfa Romeo GTV seats will go in, fronts and rear. I've got a set I'm planning on fitting to my daily driver '91 soon

Just fitted a pair of MGTF seats in the wife's. Lovely seats after the standard boneshakers.

I have Recaro's as fitted to the the Mk3 Escort RS Turbo, etc which used to be widely available used several years ago. Include head rests, reclining and seat backs fold down for rear access. Also can be refurbished by most car trim specialists to match existing interior, etc.

Those Porsche seats look really nice, I was considering them as an alternative to the Alfas I picked up. A guy local to me was selling a pair of fronts in a lovely grey leather, heated and electrically adjustable, they were around the 500 quid mark if I remember right.

I had the early black MG Metro seats in my Mk2 Cooper for one of the MCR Wye Valley runs many moons ago. Very comfortable.

Re: Seats from other cars. What else fits?
These will not be easy to find now. In the 70’s I drove a Mini van for work, the standard seat was not that comfy so I replaced the drivers seat with a seat from an ADO16 11/1300, they fitted straight onto the crossmember without any modifications. I know the workshop manager would not have allowed the swap had the seat been modified.

Re: Seats from other cars. What else fits?
My car came with a set of Simca Rallye buckets modified to fit a Mini (i.e. a chunk cut out of the base to go over the crossmember). They're quite comfy but completely static, so they don't fit the brief here.
A picture from 'tinternet to show what they look like.

Looking good! Suits the more modern car, mine’s a ‘64 so might look a bit out of place but man they look comfy and supportive!

Cheers Inno
Look comfy especially for my wide load.
I need access to the back seats though (no, not for that! Well I wouldn’t turn it down
) so need tilters or folders

Re: Seats from other cars. What else fits?
Early XJS seats are just small enough for a mini. small headrest plus tilt forward
