I recently acquired a pair of 1960 doors and windows. The doors were bare shells with the glass already removed. I have tried a test fit of the windows using my 1962 fittings (sliding window catch locking runners and upper & lower glass channels).
They are extremely tight to the point of being nearly impossible to slide.
Since I didn't get those parts with the doors I can't compare them with their 1962 counterparts to know if they're the same.
Would appreciate any tips.
thanks,
Brian

Re: MK1 Sliding Window Fit
Have you fitted them with new channels, as these can be a bit tight until worn a bit.

Re: MK1 Sliding Window Fit
Squeeze closed the ridge between the lower channel with pliers, i.e the middle ridge of the W. Don't squeeze the ridge completely flat that will make the glass too loose.

Try some Silicone Grease .. seems to work for me on new window channels that are tight.

Or MOLYSLIP did mine, when using mostly new components in the late 80's. Silicon grease will be cleaner and more convenient of course

I had problems with Pheonix channels, the windows hardly moved even with lubrication. Changed to Minispares ones and they were fine.

They take hours of work to get sliding and fitting nicely.. my mini spares ones are excellent.
