Under wing Servo height?

I have read the threads on where you can fit a servo and so on, but it may be best for me to fit it under the front wing so as to keep the under-bonnet space free for batteries.
I have had a go and all looks like it should be ok, BUT, the best compromise of everything basically means the bottom of the servo is at the same line of height of the attachment point of the front shocks. It is of course a little set back from the shock mount, so tyre radius will give a little more clearance.

Unfortunately I still do not have my front subframe to get a better idea, but before I do anything silly, can anyone guesstimate how far up maximum deflection takes the top of the tyre?

Ideally, is it higher than the top front shock mount?

Why not fit it under the L/H dash, like the 64 works cars?

Only because I will usually have my wife of kids in the car and would like to keep the leg room free (and safer).
If it is not possible under the wing, below the back seat is also possible, but if where it is is high enough then it is straightforward enough to put it there.

You might be advised to run the little air filter through into the engine compartment.

the other place to fit the servo is fit a box where race cars have a weber box in the dash and fit it there. Will Sparrow used that location with his 8 port rocket.

Hej Ed!

I remember seeing a under wing mounted Servi on a Downton or Alexander modified Car in this Forum.

I think for your application it would be the best solution.

Did I read somewhere on the forum that the height is quite critical. A tad too high and it's impossible to bleed the servo system without one of those pressurising thinggies

I have mine fitted in the off side wheel area but mine is a fibre glass front pivoted backwards ( like a MINI).
I will take some pics tomorrow, it took quite a bit of juggling and off course I have no wing to hinder access.

I will re-read that thread tomorrow thanks Fabian, and Underkut, if you could it would be appreciated.
Peter, I have always found the pressurised bleed kits much better than just a human foot and that was the plan.
Whistler, I am having trouble finding any sort of remote feed for the air intake but I know they exist, If the position I propose is viable I will either wrap it in wire wool and fit a splash guard or vent it into the engine bay away from any muck.

I was just trying to figure if above the damper top mount height is high enough to avoid being hit by the wheel at max deflection.

Is it the height that is critical,
or is it more important to ensure the outlet end of the hydraulics is higher than the inlet end for bleeding purposes?

Normally the outlet should be 26 or something degrees higher than the inlet.

I mounted my Horizontal under the Dash and despite some problems in the beginning, whe managed to bleed it correctly.
I promise i won't buy another MkI...

The way the brackets would best fit have the unit at almost the exact recommended angle as per the bracket.
The instructions say, I think, between 25 and 45 degree tilt up.

Is there any way someone could look at their front wheel and see what sort of distance there is between the top of the tyre and the mounting bolt from the bracket which goes through the damper?

suggest you need to establish what ride height your e car will be set up ..before you can establish what you are trying to do with positioning the Servo..under your wing .. poor thing .. then ask yourself why do you need a Servo ?
Perhaps the alternative is modernise your Brakes with 4 Pots etc .. ;)

Good answer there Norman......, why the servo? Especially under the wing where by default it's getting bombarded with shite every time the car is on the road

OK, The car is going to weigh a lot due to the batteries and my wife will be driving the car, also, I previously broke both my knees so I am fitting a servo.
I want it to look stock so it will not be lowered.
I have the cooper s disk brakes already and will give them a go before thinking about further upgrades.

I have not fitted the servo yet but if it goes under the wing I will protect it and keep the breather clear or remote.

So, please, Is there any way someone could look at their front wheel and see what sort of distance there is between the top of the tyre and the mounting bolt from the bracket which goes through the damper?

Actually, I just centred a tyre where it should be, then lifted it straight up and I recon I have 10-11cm clearance, which I guess is fine.
If it ends up to not be fine I can adjust the bumpstop.

Here ar a couple of pics of my servo installation under the dash. I don’t think it will encroach on passenger foot space, unless they have huge feet!!
