Which one of these is the correct bolt as used on output flanges

On a '65 I would say the one on the left, with a spring washer.
The reduced head type were much later - I think they came in with the DAM**** cases.

Definitely the left: In 1965 to distinguish from BSW,BSF and those new fangled metric stuff, bolt suppliers to BMC Ford produced unified bolts with a dimple in the middle to identify the un thread as per your photo. The strength of the bolt was signified by a letter "high tensile" had a letter S which is equivalent to 8.8
