I have an 11.18.01.00 going spare (in store midlands nr M1 J21) if you are interested? It’s a new m-machine panel but not used as we decided to fix up the original.

If my 11 Nov 64 SDL is anything to go on - that is the correct panel. I didn't think the diagonal bar came in until 65 or 66, when the oil cooler location required more space???

In any case, you will have to replace the signal light plinths, as, nobody makes a front panel with the smaller in diameter plinths.....

Why, oh why is there no aftermarket panel with the original size light plinths. So many cars still needing these. Surely there's a market for the correct panel? Having to modify one of the new panels to suit seems crazy to me.

You'd have thought that with regards to the front indicator plinth differences, one of the larger manufacturers would press-in a marker during the manufacturing stage. Then, when someone orders one of the earlier front panels, HE SPECIFIES the indicator plinth style he wants. Early or late. Then it's just a simple change the tooling in the manual shop floor fly-press by one of the workers - and bobs your uncle. You can complicate matters but it really is as simple as that. I used to watch exactly this being done hundreds of times a day at a small press shop doing the same for another item(s) for the motor industry

Most of the Mini Machine* panels are a bargain really. You only have to see what most car manufacturers want for a fairly ordinary front wing on a modern car, stamped out by the thousand for a quid a go. 180 quid for a correct early front panel is inexpensive.

Agree on two points here ..

Point 1 - Their panels are pretty much a bargain - you should try restoring an ADO16 .. about a grand for a full front panel for a VDP and then build it yourself out of sections.

Point 2 - I don't recognise M-Machine either - bollox to BMW :x

m-machine have the plinths. their front panels (Magnum modified) are on stop at the moment as they can't get the front panels from Magnum. I've just had to buy the standard Magnum one from Bullmotif and have the guy doing my shell modify it himself, including the lamp plinths and the narrow number plate brackets and also block up the side grill vent.
