5 stud bumpers

Post by Lilihip »

I came across a 5 hole bumper, well it has 5 brackets but only 3 bolts - in the middle and at the corners. I was wondering is this for mk1 Mini and is there a way to determine which is the correct bumper for Mk1 mini, thanks!

Bumpers remained more or less the same from 59 to the end of production. The tooling remained the same long after 2 of the original 5 bolts had been dropped, so if yours has the plinths, it's probably an early one. This is however, not guaranteed.

thats an after market bumper.

genuine ones had a folder lip that went right the way round (some non genuine did as well, so you have to look at the shape)

the ones that have the little tags welded on are the more modern cheap bumpers, either chrome or stainless
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

I don't think so. The ones I have don't have any "straps"... and the holes are square. The matching bolts have little square shoulders under the domed top that prevent the bolts turning as you tighten the nut.

Cheers, Ian
