Monte Carlo 66. Initial recce Hopkirk. "His 65 RAC car with Group 1 engine" (or standard engine? - the only difference would be "blueprinting"). Final recce Hopkirk.

Posted here as it appears to be the EBL56C driven by Marjetta Aaltonen on the 66 RAC.
Look at the photo carefully (the photo I said, not just Caroline Tyler's legs) because I have not a clue why it would have been at (presumably Manchester) Piccadilly BR Station either before of after the 66 RAC.

That looks more like the 1982 Lombard Golden 50 Rally

It's been indicated approx 10 years...mid 70's to mid / late 80's.
It's also been suggested that some of the interchangeable mk1 / mk3 parts were used on the current EBL 56C, and some remain on the mk3, formerly ABW 85H ( now EBL 56H ) which is an interesting car in it's own right.

It was 4 years, 79 to 83, and whoever suggested that some parts remain on EBL56H was talking through his bottom! 😂
Stripping every screw off it was the whole point!

Apart from the fact hardly any Mk1 parts fit a Mk3 to start with.

Mmmm…..I’m now thinking that the original mk1 car was rebuilt into the mk3 shell in 79, ( using whatever parts were interchangeable ) and all the mk1 works specific parts stored by the owner until a suitable mk1 ( 67 ??? ) shell came along ….in 84 for the rebuild that is the current car ? It would be great to see some 1979 Polaroids.
