Putting me to shame and moving ahead at a pace there Harry. hi
an electric fan can make fitting belts a lot simpler they come in push or pull types but then it is not original but helps solve a problem

Wow wouldnt want to think about fitting another component in there as well! Nightmare.
Its full of coolant now and holding water (hopefully) so thats all that matters.

Got a few bits done this week.
Fitted the facet, regulator and filter onto the motamec alloy mounting plate via some rubber studs, pretty happy with it after spending a while deciding were i wanted everything mounted. Once everything was fitted filled the tank and tested in just by filling a jerry can up front. All looking good.
Ordered a gearbox steady along with all my chrome bits and only the strut came, so they sent out the mounting plate. Then i find that the strut must have been the other side as i couldnt get it to fit in any direction. Simply cut and rewelded at the right angle i wanted, then sprayed and fitted. Think i may fit one to the other side as well when i am putting another order in with one of the suppliers.
Cleaned up a speedo i had in, corrected the mileage and refitted it.
Fitted the moustache and wiskers, i used Marks advice i saw in one of his builds and turned some m5 allen cap screws on the lathe so they slid in the wiskers nicely and fitted it all up. Worked really well. Thanks Mk1.
Did a bleed on the brake and clutch systems, brakes are nearly there i just keep going back to them every now and again, and getting some more air out. But the pedal feels pretty good. I had to remove the clutch slave and use some ptfe sealant and new copper washer and retighten as i couldnt get a pedal feel. So will bleed that up this week.
Got the motamec catch can and lines all fitted up, just got to order some p clips to fit the hose to the head bolts.
Also filled the engine with oil and primed the filter, shat myself when the oil overflowed out of the rocker cover, must of been that cold it couldnt flow down into the sump, but got that all cleaned up

Interesting tips for the whiskers
but you had to drill some big holes for M5, I would have use M2 or M3 diameter

Always interesting to see (hear) peoples opinions of what is undrivable and what isn't.
For some a 266 is nigh on impossible to live with and some happily drive around with a 286.
If they find a 266 undrivable on the road then maybe an e-bike with a topspeed of 15mph is better suitable?

Re the tyres, i hope the garage did put them the right way round as they are the ones who will be putting it through the mot

Small update, the car is booked in to get Started up and tuned, set up on a rolling road and 4 wheel aligned in the next few weeks so i am trying to finish off as much as possible before that time.
Done the fiddly job of fitting the door drain tubes, fitted an AP clutch slave due to the other one not wanting to bleed up correctly.
Fitted a Racetech rpm gauge, with recall of max engine rpm:
Got to go round the whole car and check and paint pen bolt and fixing tightness and then i am getting pretty close to being ready for a drop off to the specialists.

Firstly i would like to say thanks to anyone who has helped, supplied parts or advice on the build. Getting really close to completion now, the car has been at Jim @ Race motorsport, went in to him to get started up, 4 wheel aligned and a base sort of setting on the carbs before it goes to the rolling road.
While it was there we had a starter motor casing break, ended up both deciding the best thing would be to swap the aggressive 310 cam in it to a swiftune sw8 so the engine came out and he did all those bits too. Great guy really knowledgeable.
Have a few issues and jobs to sort on it but getting there.....
Got to sort out an agreed value insurance package, MOT and get it to a dyno to get a few niggly carb issues sorted next.
