50 Years Of The Mini Cooper - Video

Post by Pete »

Trailer for 50 Years Of The Mini Cooper video here.......

Though it's great to see some new archive rally footage it does look heavily weighted toward red and white cars...again !

Looks good to me :D Worth getting it for the unseen photoage filmed by the abingdon boys, seen some of the stills of Paddy's personal photos that he has left with Minisport, lovely clear colour shots.

You would say that !

I love all that stuff as you know but such a one sided tale of the Mini in competition though isn't it ? Where's Carlisle, Banks, Fitz, Whizz, Spice, Neal, Whitmore, Taylor, Redman, Goodliff, Trickett, Odor, Longman to name but a few all still alive with stories to tell of the heyday of the Mini on track, but for how long ? A missed opportunity I'd say. The privateer rally crews rarely get a look in either do they nor rallycross ?

It's plain 'red and white-ist' !

Hear hear,

I wrote a mail to one of "those" magazines 15 months ago, explaining exactly the same,
but it didnt seem to do much - I never got a answer on my mail

I live 5 min away from 3 of the best Mini drivers of the 60ies in Denmark, and here I mean Champions, not just local drivers.
Some drove in Engand/Sweden/Germany too, beating the drivers in those countries.

Its a great shame these stories dont get "out"

Once while having coffee, I saw the price cabinet, in one of the guys living room

I have never seen so much silver ware :o that was awesome.

I still remember his last Race Mini, and the sound of the straightcut gears 8-)

Not room to publish that sort of stuff that we want when there are plenty of pics of the editorial staff to squeeze in.

Having just watched the Beaulieu part on the second disc I can say that there is definitely an interview with John Rhodes, haven't had a chance to look at the rest of disc or disc 1 yet :)

Only watched disc 1 up tp yet but I enjoyed Easter's Super 8 footage also, very interesting. I know Mini Sport have bought Paddy Hopkirk's name to stick on their range of goodies but I was quite surprised to see the Harpers rummaging through a box of his old trophies in their office on this DVD, bit odd that. Poor old Rhodesy being interviewed in that Bulee monsoon , what a star for sticking with it. A good watch.

Hi Pete,

someone DID listen to you ;) have you seen the theme for Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012 8-)

taken from their website -
" The 2012 Festival of Speed theme (28 June-01 July) is ‘Young Guns – Born to Win’, celebrating drivers and riders and designers and engineers,
whose supreme talent and insatiable thirst for speed shocked the establishment, affording them immediate superstar status "

Lets hope they do something nice of this.
