Before I fit the headlining!
I have quite a stash of Dynomat so I was going to cover the roof before I fit the headlining.
Now I have found out that I'm supposed to glue felt up there too.
I would not have thought I need both, but just in case, does the felt have any other purpose like stopping pokes from going through?
Cheers
Ed

One thing that felt is VERY good at is absorbing moisture. It sops it up like its going out of fashion. Avoid it like the plague I say.

Cheers,
I kept it to myself, but that is the USP that Newton use!!
"Made from lightweight felt and cut to size, this fits into the cavity of the roof before fitting your new headlining and provides increased sound insulation and protection from moisture"
So I guess I will go with the fresh air option!

Be really careful if you fit felt, or any other material to the roof before you fit the headlining...
Dont glue it right up to the edge, leave 3" all around, also,
dont have any material thicker than 3mm or you just wont get the headlining to sit properly !
Other than that, good luck!. I fitted mine when the bodyshell was on a spit, and had the car upside down. It was sooo easy ! R

I glued mine in with impact adhesive, take the seats out, cover everything in the car and cover yourself it is a messy job and the felt leaves bits everywhere so a mask is also a good thing to wear...oh and do it outside for the fumes

Or better still, in my humble opinion and experience - and for what it's worth - don't bother to fit felt ANYWHERE on your newly restored or rebuilt car. Just fit modern up to date self adhesive anti drum panels that you can warm up and shape to fit every application!

Cheers Peter,
That is why I have a stock of dynamat!
Which it seems will be used and I will not be ordering felt!
I just like to dot the I's!!

Re: Before I fit the headlining!
I used the foil backed neoprene? Self adhesive sound deadening. I have used this all over my car.
NO WAY would I use felt.
Sorry I don’t really have a pic but you know the type of stuff I have used
I am struggling with my headliner at the moment, too ‘kin cold in the garage!
