Why was it the norm to fit a fog and a spot to Benelite grilles, always thought they looked a bit wonky with mismatched 576s fitted.I am sure there is a reason behind it so would like to know.
Hi, I'm new to this forum, and am busy catching up in some of these interesting posts.
I have a June 60 mini which has been in the family since 68 and had this Benefits grill with spot/fog fitted from when we bought the car. Would it have been a factory)dealer option and fitted from new or an aftermarket, any one know what the options were back then?

There were genuine BMC accessories available, although the Benelite grille was purely aftermarket. It would have been advertised in the newspapers/magazines of the time.
Can anyone confirm the extent of black paint on the benelite grill? Was it just on the flat backing sections or did the depth of the fins get painted also, leaving the leading edge of the fins exposed / highlighted? The one I have looks like there was over spray on the fins with leading edges highlighted.
Would anyone be able to confirm?
Couple of options below (yellow indicates extent of black paint)
TIA

Sorry to jump in late but I had a MK I Benelite grill in the 8 slat Morris version with the headlamps. Sold it to a guy on Minimania, As I remember it had a nice printed plate that said Benelite Grille. As for changing a car to use another MK of Benelite grill...I had a Mk 1 that had a Mk 2 grill. I took off the MK 2 grill and everything fit...now that is 1 to 2 not 2 to 1.
