When I bought my 1071 it had a tow bar on it and there was a large boat on the driveway. My face must have been a picture as the sellers first comments were ‘don’t worry it’s only ever pulled a garden trailer...’

You should. It looks as if you'll soon need another project to get your teeth into :P
Fantastic progress by the way. Such a great little car.

Before the hand brake and cables go in I thought I would try Nick W’s suggestion for making a template for the carpets. Tedious but it does work.

Then getting it out was a swine and then where to store it until the carpet arrives. Somewhere flat and out of the way.

Well it won’t be going anywhere for a month or so.

Roger,

Yes, originally cart shed and stable. Different horse power lives there now. It was probably warmer when a live beast lived there. All that nice warm dung for the roses. It would have smelled better that petrol and paint fumes.

Now that’s going back a bit. Before the mini entered the scene.

Thanks Alan & Andrew.

Still chipping away at the minor stuff. Here’s one pile of rust and dust that needs action.

I did find a great way to save the adhesive “Smiths” label. Warm the metal from behind the sticker with a hot air gun. It peeled of so nicely and it’s still sticky.

The spiders will be fine. They will have plenty of mates in my work shed.

Time for engine insertion.

Hope nails in the ceiling hold.

Keep the wheels in line. Roll the car forwards.

All going very nicely until at this point,

When you wonder why the engine is sitting at a strange angle. Oh wailie, no clutch end engine mount. To cap that I haven’t got one. Not even a used one. I guess it’s an early morning phone call to Rich. Does this sort of thing happen to anyone else?

Walk away time - again. Now where’s that bottle of red. I am sure I had one.

Kev,

Don’t mind at all. Another photo to add to its history. I wonder who’s feet are in shot on the roof.

Steve,

Early days in that photo. No auxiliary lamps and no head lamp shrouds. I still have the Le Mans headlamps (no side lights) which necessitated the separate side lights. They need re-silvering though.
