Hi I picked up a 998 ? Cooper engine (or bits) at the W/E, of all the engines I have had in bits, I do not remember this combination
on closer inspection the flywheel end of the block is drilled for a inline engine, the main cap is a Std mini with no machining and looks like it is matched/Std to the block, also the oil pick-up pipe hole is not threaded for the inline oil pick up? or a addapter/plug fitted to fit a gearbox to the bottom of it
there is no engine No' as the block is bored, also found a liner in No'4 cylinder, looks like some one has bored through the oil way
the casting No' on the back of the block is 12 A 497 near the oil pump, in the center of the block it has B 24K 7, with a 6 just above to the Right
Just intrested in why it has been 1/2 drilled for a in-line engine as it needs to know if it is a engine with a sump or a gearbox attached
thank for looking and any info, mike
