Hello Guys
I'm currently restoring for one of my friends a CKD mk1 baby, the car is totally unrestored
But the vin plates is graved instead of to be embossed as usual,
Is it common or maybe modified during the last 45 years?

All local cars built in Portugal at least from early 70ies onwards have the VIN number engraved like yours.
I can check my mk1 CKD 67 cooper next WE , don't recall how the VIN is engraved.
Cheers
Luis

I’ve seen Austin cars with it stamped like that in the UK too.

I was persuaded that all mk1/2 used to have reverse stamped plate, my other mk1 (only Austin" have reverse stamped chassis plate
This one is a French baby 66 CKD

Austin factory, embossed. Morris factory, engraved. This is how usually it is.

My 2 cents: assembled in Belgium. Does it make sense?
