The A+ went in to production either late 78 or early 79. We started getting them in our 1979 Mokes and there was roughly a 6 month lag between UK production and what we got here at that time.

The A+ engines we got in our Mokes were for the most part, the same as those fitted to the early Metros. The Engine in my own 1981 HLE Metro is the same in every way as the A+ 998 Engine fitted to my wife's late 1980 Moke, except for the Carb, Distributor (though a 59D4), Pistons and Final Drive Ratio. The engine in my Metro has a A+ sticker, factory fitted to the Rocker Cover.
My first Moke, an October 1979 plated car, had a A+ 1275 Engine fitted to that, again the same as the early A+ Engines I've bought in from the UK.
