Headlining Installation

I'm about to try installing new headlining material on our 1960 Mini. The part worrying me most is the stapling. To get the material tight I imagine a pliers style stapler is necessary but everything I've seen have a slight lower lip which I think will impact the ability to get close enough.
Any tips or solutions are appreciated.

I just cut the end off on a cheap staple gun, worked really well.
