Fibre Washer For Window Catch Measurement + gasket material
I have a couple of questions about window catch gaskets,
First I'm wondering what material the main gasket ( http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search ) is made from? and also if the 'white' ones were actually white when new ? I'm looking into machining some white ones if I can source some suitable material.
And secondly, Does anybody have a new fibre washer for the sliding window catches that would be able to measure the thickness of them? I have a used one and measures 0.9mm.It's these http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search. Again I'm going to make my own
Thanks Alex

I have some NOS fibre washers Alex, will measure and let you know.
Chrome window catch gaskets were off-white. I may have a NOS gasket I can photograph.

The new fibre washers from MS seem too big to me.
I found some old ones that fitted better

The white gaskets are not there - think I sold them a few weeks ago
I'll measure the NOS, genuine red fibre gaskets in the morning at work. They seem quite thin.

I agree with NickW the fibre washers from MS are certainly too big.

Is this what you're after? This is off a 1960 Morris Mini.

Even more reason to make my own then, when you say too big, do you mean the outside diameter or the thickness? cheers

Re: Fibre Washer For Window Catch Measurement + gasket material
Thank you for measuring them! Hopefully i can get some thats a similar thickness that I can modify the ID and OD to suit. I can always make the nut/reataining boss to suit the washers I suppose...
I did think the seals were slightly off white, now to find some suitable material to make them out of.
Cheers
You'll need a new battery in your vernier soon ;D

I remade these gaskets years ago. NIck Rogers or Somerford should have them. I just sent Nick some a few months ago.

The ID of the inner hole is too big on the MS ones. The OD & thickness seem OK.
