Self built remote Quickshift

For those who think this is now my instruction on the how-to, sorry I have to disappoint you.

As I often prefer to rather build than buy, I thought I might have an attempt on building my own Quickshift.
What are the requirements:

• I want the gearstick to be roughly 15cm longer and bent backwards, so it sits closer to the steering wheel

• For obvious reasons then the lower lever, down the ball joint shall be longer so I wouldn't create an 'Extended Travel Shift'

My question to you, the learnt, now is: what gear lever could I use as a starting point?

• Rumour has it the ADO16 remote stick is longer - the lower lever too?

• Maybe a pudding stirrer (aka magic wand) - what's the length of the lower part on this?

I know I could use a of-the-shelf Quickshift and fit a Speedwell extension - but where is the fun in this.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
