1963 Safety seat hoops.

Post by Big Josh »

Hi.

Does any one know if the 1963 Morris 850 is supposed to have seat hoops? My car has the latches on the seat base but no hoops on the floor.

The car is certainly not standard, but the rear floor looks original.

Thanks for your help.

My original June '63 Morris 850 doesn't have the hoops in the floor or the latches under the seat.

I though they were a Mk2 or later idea.

Thanks AndyB72 and Woodypup59.

Looks like i've got later seats in there. I'll have to install some hoops, the flip flop motion is freaking me out.

Have a great day.

72 Inno Cooper Pre-export --> no hoops
>73 Inno Cooper Export --> hoops

If that helps with British built Minis

What the hell is a "seat hoop?"

I eckon I have heard of most parts and variations, but I'm buggered if I have heard of this before.

Presumably the bit the catch hooks round on the later seats?

(having looked that up MS do call it a SEAT LOCKING FLOOR HOOP)

Those weren't a standard fitment on UK built Minis until around 1976. No doubt they were fitted to some export models that required them before.

Canadian (MkIII?) Minis in the 70's had them.

They were fitted to Aussie cars from the early 70’s (I think 1971) although our cars had the bars on the other side of the seat to the UK cars
