Fuel pump problem
I have fitted a new SU fuel pump (aud214) to my mk1 cooper but it floods the carbs ,to much pressure?. anyone else had this problem? this car has had a complete rebuild body ,engine ,carbs, running gear etc , (HDL998E).

Hope you meant AUF214...
Use a small hose and block one end with a bolt. Put the other end on the output pipe of the pump.
Now switch on the pump and listen to it clicking. It should stop.
If it has stopped, your problem is the needle valve(s) in the float chambers.
If it hasnt stopped, then you need to change the pump.

Must be the weather.
My new pump packed up at the weekend. It was clicking away like mad and not stopping. Reached underneath the car, and it was very hot.
Now it is not clicking at all, even after allowing it to cool overnight.
I suspect I let the fuel level go too low, and it has fried itself.
Edit: As an update to this. I have one of the new SU Positive earth fuel pumps with electronic "points". Removed the pump and it is indeed not working. It would click just once, indicating the diaphragm moved back, but didn't return forward and cycle as normal. So, today I removed the end cap and took a look inside.
It seems there is an inductive sensor which is actuated by a magnet fixed in an aluminium collar on the shaft. The collar is secured by a grub screw.
This screw was loose in my pump, and the collar had rotated, moving the magnet out of position, so It was not triggering the sensor.
