Removing nicotine stains

Post by Dearg1275 »

Has anyone any good tips on how to clear nicotine staining from vinyl? On darker colours it’s not so obvious but it does spoil dove grey. So far tried are biological washing detergent, panel wipe solvent, gun wash thinners and swarfega.

I don't know if they sell it in your part of the world but
ZEP 505 works great. They call it an all purpose degreaser.
It's more of a home product than automotive.

Hello,

Try straight Ammonia. Will degrease all vinyl, and will not remove colour. Works a treat, and removes smell.

I used on most of the upholstery Autogylm tar remover followed by Autogylm interior shampoo, cleaned up rather well!

I've bought some Sugar soap here (St Marc brand) and I'm wondering how you folks have applied it. I made a soapy mix with warm water and sponged it on, is that all there is to it or any better suggestions?
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!
