Do any of you learned members know if these H4s are "good" or "bad".?
They are on a 12G299 inlet with the numbers 594 punched in as well.
Highly modified in all the usual places, but sadly the bowls and a few bits are long gone.
A few pics.
Any info gladly received. Thankyou.
Unknown Twin H4s.

Re: Unknown Twin H2s
Look like H4's to me also. A nice find.
I think the inlet may not suit a mini though, think that might only be a 10 degree one, you need a 30 degree, a 12a661 or similar.
The float chambers needed are 4814 and 4815. One is quite easy to find, the other much more difficult.

These H4's are quite different to the Special Tuning H4's in the throttle shafts and choke/throttle linkage. They may have been a made up set from something else.

Re: Unknown Twin H4s.
They look like the H4's from my Rally Cooper 'S' of many years ago, meaning the actual ones, with the modded leading edges to the pistons, even down to the servo connection blanking 'bolt'. Suitably refurbished, excellent carbs, some say the longer tract from the jet to the inlet manifold flange, gives greater torque than the shorter HS / HIF series.

Re: Unknown Twin H4s.
Thanks for the replies folks.
When i got my MK2 S it was fitted with HS 4s, so if the parts become available for these H4s i might be persuaded to fit them instead.
I've got a couple of spare inlet manifolds somewhere, so that's a start.

Re: Unknown Twin H4s.
They are a basis for a cracking set. Although personally I am not a great fan of modifying carbs like these have been.
The Manifold they are fitted to at the moment is for an 1100, this will cause some fitment problems as the carbs could touch the crossmember. Fit them to a 30° Mini manifold, re do the linkage & find some float chambers to suit.
They will be sound.
