Does anyone here know anything about this car? I can see a few small details which are incorrect but haven't spotted anything major. If we accept that a decent "S" is somewhere around £35,000-£40,000 something like this should be a reasonable purchase shouldn't it?colonel mustard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:57 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966-Austin- ... 0752.m1982

I live about five miles from the garage that has this for sale,I’d like to know how much they paid for it-about five grand less than they are selling it for I bet..Old English White wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 2:10 pmcolonel mustard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:57 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966-Austin- ... 0752.m1982

I’d prefer to buy something like this from a private seller.

Alloy door window catches. Chrome and plastic yes, but what's the story with these BMC alloy examples?

Think there is more to this than the owner realises.

A bit of a mongrel - but quite a few GT parts in the mix (including the shell I think).

D20D body number is a GT, also has GT rear seats and door cards. Just a shame it has been messed about with those blended arches, central speedo and other non-standard parts.

Exactly - the was the body number that caught my eye. An early GT at that, judging by the bonnet prop.
Front seats are quite nice in the matching basketweave vinyl
Surprised by the early heater and curious as to what the rh tank is.
The arches are horrible, don't much care for the front bumperettes either.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
It is certainly an early GT - it has the boot board brackets (but no boot board) as well as the holes for the top servo mounting bracket. I never thought the early GTs had Commission Numbers beginning with "S20D". Is there a sequence to D20D the body numbers as well?GraemeC wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:02 pm Exactly - the was the body number that caught my eye. An early GT at that, judging by the bonnet prop.

Yes body number is D20D for GT, D20S for Clubman. Different to commission number. No body numbers started C20D.
Yes GT Commission number starts S20D, Clubman is saloon is S20S. Both Body and Commission number for Clubman Estate start 20W.
You could sell the bumperettes to a Clubman Estate owner. The marker lights look like the ones fitted to Canadian market cars.

Just edited my post - I have a better photo of the slam panel now and one of inside the boot which shows the boot board brackets. I'll post them.

Very true, but as has been said a million times before, a repro is NOT original & if someone wants an original to finish a restoration then that is the sort of money people are prepared to pay. If they aren't, it won't sell.MrNoo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 5:30 pmBonkers money, very easy to make a mould up to produce fiberglass or carbon ones, simple to do and you could even get the textured surface too if you're clever.Louis wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 11:25 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Cooper- ... _Auction=1

That could be a '69 shell.
Also interesting that DVLA have it registered as a 1071cc - wonder what the chassis number is!
Is the rh filler one of the fake ones then?

So they have the (slightly incorrect) body number for the VIN number

How has it ended up with the body number recorded as the chassis number?
Also that is a very low body number for a '71 car. I think your right Graeme, it could be a '69 shell. also has the servo mount holes at a right angle to the wing line.

Thought I recognised the black tulip Clubbie / GT, it was for sale earlier this year I think, or possibly at the back end of last year. The basket weave front seats are also seen in some Lotus Elan +2s.

Unless of course the "L" is a "1" - in which case "D20D 0020641" which might be right for a late 71?surfblue63 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 6:37 pm How has it ended up with the body number recorded as the chassis number?
