I was able to source the oil pressure and temperature gauge light (wiring, socket and bulb from British Wiring, Bally PA). Since the socket is plastic I now have a ground wire which I attached to the gauge bracket.

Next step is to locate wires for the temperature gauge.
It is my understanding the green/blue wire (14) from the loom goes to the temperature gauge and the dual green/light green wires (17B) go the voltage stabilizer “B” post. I then need to source a light green wire to run from the temperature gauge to the voltage stabilizer “I” post. Is this correct?

The switch has 1 brass and 2 copper terminals.
So... I assume the blue/common goes on the brass terminal.

Hi Roger.
I did not recognise the numbering as a Cooper s and went back to find the wiring diagram you are using. It is for an 850 mini.
Looking at your image the red wire is close to the main beam (blue/white) and a double connector with the earth wires. There should also be a blue/red wire for the dipped beam which leads me to conclude that the red wire is to power the side lights. The dashed lines on your diagram relate to a time when the "indicator" lamps included side lights (parking?)
The other end of the red wire should be at the main light switch on the dashboard - 2 red wires (rear side lights and panel lamps) - 1 red wire front side lights.

I think will depend where you imported it from, but you need it - it connects to the side lights. I think they might be called parking lights over your way though they are referred to as pilot lights as well.
They are either on the back of the headlamp or with the indicator.
I’m not sure what your set-up is and can only talk from what I’m familiar with.
My last Mini in the UK had a hole on the lower back of the headlamp for the side / parking / pilot light to push into. This hole was below the Main light connector.
My current Mini has the sidelights in combo with the indicator. This has three wires to the back of each unit: black for earth, green with a trace for indicators and red for the side lights.

BROWN is for direct, unswitched, unfused supply from the battery. Seen on wires to alternators, dynamos, control boxes and ignition switches etc. Always live and often carrying heavy current.
PURPLE Direct, unswitched but fused supply from the battery. Horn and int light.
WHITE Unfused supply from the ignition switch. To ignition and fuel pump.
GREEN Fused supply switched via the ignition switch. Used for things like the wiper motor, indicators and brake lights which only work when the ignition is on.
BLUE The main colour for head lights and spotlamps.
RED The main colour for front & rear side lights.
BLACK The usual colour for wires from components to earth points on the body.
The Battery and starter cables are black and about 3/8" thick.
These refer to the main colour of the wire.
The second tracer colour which is on many wires is the thinner line and is used to identify the individual function on that circuit. I'll not list these exhaustively. Its on the wiring diagram.

I am away from the car for the next few days but will check the headlamp and flasher units to see which might have a connection for the red wire for the side lamp. If I understand the responses the red wire does need to be attached to either the headlamp or flasher unit. The specific one seems to vary based upon model, year, etc.

I found another wiring diagram (for a Cooper S) which is the same as the Haynes manual but using different numbering.

I believe I am now OK with wiring the turn signal and sidelamp. My “S” has a dual filament bulb holder. I purchased two pieces of 36” red wire with a bullet connector on one end. I attached a double bullet connector to the red wire coming out of the loom and attached each red wire to the other side of this bullet connector. I then fed turn signal, sidelamp and ground wire through a grommet in the inner fender (LH & RH) and connected all three to the bulb holder. The turn signal wire was attached to the brighter filament connector and the sidelamp to the dimmer filament connector. The ground was attached to connector soldered to the bulb holder.
The headlamps had already been wired. Seems the LH wires come from the rear loom and the RH wires come from the front loom. I had already purchased the short headlamp looms and attached to the rear/front looms.
Next I connected wires to the horn, flasher unit, control box and fuse box.

Next up is to remove the heater, instrument panel and binnacle to feed the wiring loom through the binnacle and into the interior of the mini.

The LH headlamp wires should go into the engine bay, run under the slam panel and connect to the front loom behind the grille at the same point as the RH headlamp wires,
