Starter motor 'running on'!

Post by davidmuir »

Hi,
Why would the starter motor 'run on' after starting?? Took the original off and cleaned shaft etc and refitted-no difference! Put on spare and it does the same! (when I say 'runs on' , it's like the pinion is taking its time going back).
Thanks

Ahhhhh- obviously you're not supposed to dismantle them! I hear the new ones are suspect- ?best source?
Are all the 'Lucas' ones on Ebay fake?

Have you got the correct pinion ..Inertia or pre-engage to match your flywheel?.

Original orange boxed ones should be fine. Its the green Lucas boxed ones to avoid.

A correctly working used original is sometimes the best way forward.

I take them apart all the time, just drill out the rivits, and, re-assemble them with nuts n bolts.......
