Master cylinder extension

What for? I thought they were only to increase fluid capacity for events when you’d use a whole set of brake pads?

Anyway. They look to me like a leak waiting to happen.

Not seen the second type you describe.

I use the plastic ones, but I do swap out the o-ring supplied for smaller diameter, but fatter, one as I struggle to get them to seal otherwise.

I find the extension good for being able to see fluid levels at a glance. Which is perfect when going through scrutineering on a cold, wet night without fannying about taking caps off.

I use the clear ones and haven't had any issues leaking..main reason I like them is I no longer spill fluid on to my bulkhead when topping up as I can easily see when tgey are full.

Ps ...the metal caps look the part but the ones I had didnt tighten down very well
