1070 S Speedo

Hello, I am nearing the end of a complete restoration of my Mk1 Cooper S.
I decided to check the speedometer before installing it. I have found out that speed gauge works but the mileage dial does not, except for the end figure which turns and represents the tenth of a mile.
I am scared to try and dismantle it myself and would appreciate any comments of how or where I can have it repaired.
